Our school choir is the only ensemble we run that is NOT invite only and is open to anyone who wants to join. If you think you cannot sing then this is the ensemble for you. Of course, if you enjoy singing then it goes without saying that you NEED to join us.
School Choir is COMPULSORY for GCSE students where voice is their first or second instrument.
We're very proud of our school choir which is inclusive while being professional and fast-paced. Singing is a real joy and a unique human skill and our choir aims to promote the notion that everyone can sing if they are taught how and if they do it regularly.
Our repertoire is contemporary and has included pieces from such artists:
Sounds of Blackness
BeBe and CeCe Winans
The Mamas and the Papas
Unfortunately, we do not have any recordings of actual performances but the recordings below we feel best demonstrate the atmosphere and culture of our school choir. Hopefully, you will enjoy listening to these unedited recordings from a few of our practice sessions in the past. New recordings will also appear in time.
Rehearsals take place after school up until 5.00pm. The day changes each year and this can be confirmed by contacting our music department. Typically, due to the school production music commitments up until Christmas, the choir starts from January in term three, through to the end of the academic year. The choir performs in our annual summer concert every year, details of which can be found here. If students wish to join then they simply need to turn up and sign-up, or let our music department know at anytime so their name can be put down for our register. As stated, there is no audition required, all we ask is that you enjoy singing and are willing to work hard learning your part/s.
