Year 11 2019/20 Exam Brief Composition Rota

As students will now know, all coursework (60% of the entire qualification) is due in on Monday 30 March 2020.

Students have now been given their composition briefs for their 2nd composition. The rota for completing this using our composition software is further down the page. Information on what this composition involves and the brief for the composition can be found here.

This now means that our year 11 GCSE music students should have:

- handed in one composition at the end of year 10 and...

- have learned numerous performance pieces since the beginning of year 9 from which two must be chosen to be recorded during year 11. Recordings are already underway and take place after school.

Exam Brief Composition Rota Year 11 2019/20

  • Depending on results from PPE exams, some students may also be completing theory work on Wednesdays. Those students will only have access to the composition PCs during Friday lessons.

  • All sessions during term one are strictly for working on students' 2ND COMPOSITION ONLY. From term 2 students will be expected to manage their time and use their slots to work on both compositions 1 and 2.

- All sessions are compulsory and failure to attend will require students catching up after school.

  • Lunchtime sessions will require students to get a lunch pass from music in order to get quick entry into the lunch hall. Students can eat their lunch while working in the music room.

NB. As well as the rota below the music room is open to GCSE music students from as early as 7:15 am up until 5:00 pm (sometimes later if students give Mr Laviolette notice) every day. The music room is also open every day at lunchtime. It is expected that students use this time to complete all work that is due by 30 March 2020.
